Over a 100 years ago, a community of potters called Kumbhars, from the Kutch area in Gujarat, were given land on the outskirts of the city of Bombay within the Bombay presidency. As the years went by, the city grew around them and they now live in what is called Dharavi, Asia's largest slum. The community consists of Hindus and Muslims and over 1000 families live in close proximity, making beautiful pottery items. This is a story of the Kumbhars in pictures.
